The Lenovo A7000 smartphone is already proving extremely popular in some markets, while the Microsoft Lumia 540 Dual SIM has recently joined in on the action. They are not too far apart in price, so today we’re looking at the Lenovo A7000 vs. Lumia 540 in a price and specs duel. Both are dual SIM handsets, although their operating platforms are a distinguishing factor.

The Lenovo phone runs Android while the Lumia is a Windows Phone device. Therefore some potential buyers may make a decision between them based purely on their preference of operating system. Others may be open-minded and want to see what else the phones have to offer, so let’s take a look at the key specs and more.

Processors
The Lenovo A7000 is powered by a 1.5GHz MediaTek MT6752m octa-core processor and has Mali-T760MP2 graphics. The Lumia 540 Dual SIM is equipped with a 1.2GHz Snapdragon 200 quad-core processor and Adreno 302 GPU.

Display
The Lenovo phone has a 5.5-inch IPS display with HD resolution of 1280 x 720 resulting in 267 ppi. The Lumia 540 has a 5-inch IPS LCD display, also with 1280 X 720 resolution, this time resulting in 294 ppi.

RAM and Storage
The A7000 has 2GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage, expandable via microSD to 32GB. The Lumia 540 has 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage, but expandable to 128GB.

Camera set-up
Both handsets have an 8-megapixel rear camera with autofocus and LED flash, as well as a 5-megapixel front-facing camera.

Battery
The A7000 has a removable 2900 mAh battery while the Lumia 540 has a removable 2200 mAh battery.

New HTC J Butterfly announced for Japan, offers better specs than the M9

While the HTC One M9 has its fans, there are also a number of people who have criticized the latest flagship for not doing enough to set itself apart from its predecessor. Not only is the design very similar to the M8 but even the specs aren’t a dramatic jump forward, especially when it comes to the 1080p display. For those that were hoping for a bit more from the One M9, you might want to take a look at the latest iteration of the HTC J Butterfly.

Although the body of this phone is plastic instead of metal, the insides are as premium as ever with a 5.2-inch QHD display, a Snapdragon 810 processor, a 2700 mAh battery, 3GB RAM, 32GB storage with microSD, BoomSound front-facing speakers, a 20.2MP duo camera and a 13MP front cam. The J Butterfly (HTV31) is available in three different colors (red/white/blue) and it also sports water-resistance.

The J Butterfly will be heading to Japan, exclusively through carrier KDDI, later this summer. It is also very possible the phone will be re-branded as the Butterfly 3 in other markets. For those in the United States, it is less likely that you’ll ever see the device officially launched, though anything is possible.

So why did HTC hold off these special extra (high-end duo camera, better front facer, QHD), instead of releasing them with the M9? That’s a good question, though really only HTC knows the answer to that.

Not too long ago, AA’s Nirave wrote a post about how Sony and HTC could risk falling further behind the crowd, due to their design/hardware decisions made with the Xperia Z4 and One M9. Whether you agree or not, it is interesting that HTC choice to forgo extras like QHD on its primary flagship, only to turn around and include them in other devices like the One M9+, E9+, and now the J Butterfly.

Do you think that HTC made the right move by avoiding the QHD trend with its flagship? Conversely, would J Butterfly-level specs have been enough to sell you on the One M9, even if design stayed largely the same?

Asus ZenPad tablets leak ahead of possible July launch

Asus is looking to bring the Zen into the tablet space in the near future. Following its reasonably successful Zenfone line, the Taiwanese company is set to also release at least a couple of tablets under the ZenPad brand.

The first members of this new family will come in 7" and 8" iterations. The 7-inch ZenPad will have two versions: the Wi-Fi-only Z170C, and the 3G-capable Z170CG. Both of these models should be out in July, at least in Russia.

Spec-wise, the ZenPad 7 won't be breaking any records. It will sport an IPS screen with 1,024x600 resolution, 8 or 16GB of expandable storage, a 2 MP rear camera, a VGA front camera, Bluetooth support, and a 3,950 mAh battery.

A 64-bit Intel Atom X3 chipset will be doing the heavy lifting, and it will come with a 1 GHz quad-core CPU, aided by 1GB of RAM.

The ZenPad 7 will be offered in black and white, it will weigh under 300g, and in Russia pricing will start at RUB 7,990 for the Wi-Fi-only version. That's about $160 or €140. If you want 3G connectivity too, you'll have to shell out RUB 8,990 - which means $180 or €158. Obviously prices may differ in other markets.

Moving on, an 8-inch ZenPad got certified by the FCC. This tablet is said to come with higher-end specs compared to the 7-incher. It may be powered by Intel's Z3560 or Z3530 chipsets, with 2GB of RAM and 8, 16, 32, or 64GB of built-in storage. Furthermore, the 8" touchscreen comes with 2,048x1,536 resolution.

Both ZenPads will be officially unveiled at Computex in Taiwan at the beginning of June.

Huawei P8 Lite is already available to buy in Europe

Although it wasn't actually mentioned during Huawei's grand event which showcased the P8 and P8max, the P8 Lite is a real smartphone. We recently told you it went up for pre-order in Germany, and now we find it's already available for purchase in Hungary.

So it looks like the Huawei P8 Lite actually launched without an announcement. If you're in Hungary, Media Markt's local arm will gladly sell you one for HUF 79,999, which at the current exchange rates means €261 or $297.

For this amount you obviously get a SIM-free and unlocked device. Now that the P8 Lite went on sale in one EU country, we expect it to pop up in others very soon.

The phone sports a 5-inch 720p touchscreen, a 13 MP main camera, a 5 MP selfie snapper, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, and a 2,200 mAh battery. At the helm we find Huawei's own Kirin 620 chipset boasting a 1.2 GHz octa-core processor.

The P8 Lite runs Android 5.0 Lollipop, and it only seems to be available in black, at least for now.

Meizu MX4 Pro allegedly discontinued

The MX4 Pro smartphone, which was launched by Meizu just six months ago, is no longer in production. The news was revealed in a Facebook post (see image below) by the Turkish division of the Chinese company.

Although the company hasn't yet officially confirmed it, what's adding weight to the news is the fact that the device is now available on discounted rates in China - it is currently carrying a price tag of CNY 1,999 ($322), compared to CNY 2,499 ($402) when it was launched.

The news also comes just days after there were reports that chipmaker Mediatek has invested in Meizu. It's worth mentioning that the MX4 Pro is powered by Samsung's Exynos chipset.

Gionee E8 Will Be Able to Take 100 mpx Photos

Lately we heard a lot about Vivo’s upcoming phone called X5 Pro and its special feature that allows us to take 32 megapixel selfies. Today, we get to kow that the Chinese company Gionee prepares something similar, more precisely the E8.

This phone was recently certified by TENAA, and according to the information arrived in press, its camera will be a 23-megapixel sensor that can take 100 megapixel photos. This feature is possible through a special feature that makes quick photos and later combines them together in order to offer a huge picture of 100megapixels or  10,240 x 10,240 pixels.
