Google Now is expanding with a new useful and interesting card improvement, one that places gas stations on your route cards

Google Now is expanding with a new useful and interesting card improvement, one that places gas stations on your route cards. Up until now Google Now was able to trace your route from work to home and back or to the airport, but now it will aid you with your route stops.
nexus2cee_15-1-329x585
Interestingly enough, Google won’t offer this card to you all the time, but rather just when you’re driving. Google notices the speed you are moving at and makes a prediction about where you’re headed, thus giving you the info you may need. Of course, it may get it wrong, but most times the proximity of the gas station is spot on. The card isn’t on Google’s official list, so it may be a beta feature of sorts.
In the meantime, if you have a look at the Cards categories, you’ll find interesting mentions like Groceries to re-order, music recommendations, touristic reservations, recent Shazams, Waze traffic alerts and cycling progress info.

Inbox by Google lands on iPad

Google in November presented its new application for email – Inbox. So far, it is available on Android, Chrome and iOS. I just received an update that adapts it to the iPad.
Air iPad 2 / photo. tabletManiaK.pl
Inbox by Google is an application for Gmail service, which combines e-mail with a list of tasks. The main difference between this application and the classic mail client applications is that they deal with management prepared by the Google algorithms. Eg. The messages that have something in common with each other are grouped. Suppose that comes to us a few emails regarding business meeting – all are in one place. The application can also identify which messages are important to us and suggested that we should read them right away. The less important ones end up in a special folder. Opinions on this application are divided. The main thing is to have a choice, especially since the application is available for free. Source: TechCrunch

Expansys prices the LG Watch Urbane for pre-orders

Expansys prices the LG Watch Urbane for pre-orders

Are you looking to get yourself a gorgeous LG G Watch Urbane? You better be ready to pay a pretty penny for it, at least if the price Expansys is publishing is to be believed. The European retailer is putting the Urbane up for pre-order at a £299.99 price point, which would translate to about $462 USD. That places the LG G Watch Urbane as the most expensive Android Wear watch to date.
Regardless, the official price is still not confirmed. Expansys could simply be using this price as a place-holder until they get all the details. Or maybe they do know something we don’t! We will see. You can go ahead and pre-order with confidence, though. You won’t be charged for the device until it’s ready to ship. If the price is wrong, it should be corrected by then.
Opinion: The LG Watch Urbane is easily the best-looking Android Wear device out there. At least so far. But is it worth all that money? I wouldn’t say so. Thankfully, there is another way to get something similar to it at a lower price.

John Legere says T-Mobile has surpassed Sprint

John Legere says T-Mobile has surpassed Sprint

John Legere has done miracles for T-Mobile. The carrier’s strategy has earned them millions of new subscribers, and the numbers keep growing. But there is one milestone we have all been waiting T-Mobile to cross – when will the carrier move up the ladder and beat Sprint for the #3 spot in the USA?
John Legere predicted this would happen by the end of 2014, but no announcement was made, which made us believe said goal was not met. Either way, we knew the news would hit the web at some point, with the way things are going for T-Mobile.
John Legere just held an earnings call in which he states T-Mobile has finally taken the #3 spot in the USA. The numbers are tricky, but he is very sure about himself.
“Going into 2013, Sprint had 55 million customers. Going into ’14, they had 55 million customers. Going into this year, they have 55 million customers. In that period, they lost 3.3 million postpaid customers as well. T-Mobile had 33 million customers. We merged with MetroPCS and went to 42 million customers, and we’ve since added 13 million customers to get up to, guess what, 55 million customers.” -John Legere, T-Mobile CEO
Opinion: So they both have 55 million customers. This would mean that they are tied, right? John says Sprint is using dirty tricks to keep its numbers high, though, as they keep counting inactive MVNO accounts. Regardless, we are sure to keep seeing T-Mobile grow. T-Mobile success will likely be much more noticeable in the next quarters.

Geeksphone: the first to make an activity tracker that monitors your sex performance

Geeksphone: the first to make an activity tracker that monitors your sex performance

How good of a lover are you? You can simply ask your partner, but you know some of them will lie to make you feel better! If you want to make sure, you best go with an activity tracker that monitors your sexual performance!
As funny as that sounds, it’s becoming a reality. Spanish manufacturer Geeksphone is working on an activity tracker named the GeeksMe. This device can give you notifications, set alarms, track your activity, monitor your sleep and a couple features that are not very ordinary. These would be ecological footprint and sex tracking.
Geeksphone plans to have this device out before Summer vacations. You know, when all that free time and awesome weather make for the perfect sexy time. Price is still unknown, but the company does mention they plan to undercut the top 10 brands in the market.
Opinion: Undercutting the top 10 brands is quite ambitious, if you ask me. This is still not a full-on smart watch, though. Geeksphone could be tricking us with language and comparing this to the big guys, which tend to have much more features. Regardless, I can’t wait to learn more about this. Hopefully at MWC!

Inbox by Gmail now available for tablets and more browsers

Inbox by Gmail now available for tablets and more browsers

Inbox by Gmail launched with support for Android and iOS smartphones, as well as the Chrome browser. Now, that covers most of us, but what about those of you who want to use the service with other platforms?
Worry not, as Google has expanded Inbox availability. For starters, the Android and iOS apps have been optimized for tablet use. You can grab the apps from the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store. In addition, Google has ended its Chrome exclusivity and Inbox is also available for Safari and Firefox users. Just sign in at inbox.google.com and you should be set!
Opinion: I was never a huge fan of Inbox, but I know some of you love its organizational features and the easy flow it offers. If you are an Inbox user, you should be happy about today’s news.

Apple watch shows up on first US magazine cover

Apple watch shows up on first US magazine cover

The new Self magazine shows Victoria’s Secret model Candice Swanepoel, but that is not the most important part here (only us geeks would say that!). What matters is that she is wearing a shiny little Apple Watch.
Apple is no stranger to magazine covers. In fact, they have shown up in Vogue China in the past, where they shows just how fashionable their new watch can be. Now they are hitting the US masses by being featured on the cover of Self magazine, with a much higher focus in health and fitness. If you want to get your hands on one of these, it happens to be the March issue.
Opinion: The Apple Watch will easily beat the competition in terms of advertising. Hitting magazine covers is a huge deal! No other smart watch manufacturer has achieved that.

Google Wallet being revived

Google Wallet being revived

Google may have started the mobile payments movement, but time has proved thatApple clearly controls that market now. Google Wallet has since fallen behind, along with ISIS and every other competitor. What gives?
If the latest rumors prove correct, Google is not ready to call it a day and is planning a major relaunch for Google Wallet. A new report from the WSJ cites internal sources and claims Google is working on pushing out a “revived” version of Google Wallet. Mountain View is said to be working with an “unruly coalition of device makers, wireless carriers, banks and payment networks.”
It’s also said Google is now willing to give participating parties a much more significant portion or revenues, which would further entice them to join the party.
Opinion: Google seems to be serious about this. And though Apple has a lot of power, so does Google… and so do dollar bills. Let’s hope Google has something to announce at their IO developer conference. But tell us, guys – how many of you use mobile payments? And if you do, which is your service of choice?

HTC tesases “something HUGE”

HTC tesases “something HUGE”

With Mobile World Congress right around the corner, some of the biggest and baddest phones of the year are nearing their unveiling. Among participating manufacturers is HTC, a company we are expecting quite the show from. What will they be announcing? Rumors say there may be a couple devices in the works.
B8cIdk3CYAEzATg
So far it’s all rumors and leaks, but today HTC has taken it to Twitter to give us a tease of what could be coming. The Taiwanese manufacturer states “something HUGE” is coming. What could it be? Likely that HTC One M9 Plus that was recently rumored. We are not sure, but HTC is also giving us a bit of a math problem that could lead to the answer. Check out the tweet below and try to solve it.
Opinion: I can’t say I know what they are talking about, but if you please let us know if any of you math erudites can figure it out.

Is your Macbook Pro hurting? Apple may fix it for free!

Is your Macbook Pro hurting? Apple may fix it for free!

It turns out some Macbook Pro computers have been having video-related issues. If Apple is known for something it’s their good customer service, so they are taking this matter seriously and providing free fixes to affected models.
The products affected include the 15 and 17-inch Macbook Pro laptops from 2011, as well as the 15-inch Macbook Pro with Retina from 2012 and 2014. If you are getting bad video on the computer screen, can’t see any video or the computer restarts itself, you may want to contact Apple.
In addition, those who have paid for fixing said issues will also be reimbursed. Pretty neat, right?
Opinion: Are any of your laptops affected by this? I know I would be really upset about this. Thankfully they are working on it.

Apple could have a car in production by 2020

Apple could have a car in production by 2020

Apple is not wasting time when it comes to its secret automotive project, but we all know cars take a while to make. Bloomberg is reporting that “people with knowledge of the matter” claim Apple could have a vehicle in production as early as 2020.
No other details were given, but this seems like a reasonable release window. Meanwhile, Apple continues to get experts on vehicle production, which has proven to be a reason for one of their many lawsuits. Vehicle battery maker A123 Systems is suing Apple for “systematically” hiring its high-level employees in order to compete with them.
Opinion: That lawsuit wouldn’t be the first case to get Apple in court. They are pretty used to it by now, so the Cupertino giant should be fine. What I really want to know is when we will see more on that Apple van!

New Pebble incoming, rumored specs emerge

New Pebble incoming, rumored specs emerge

Think the Pebble smart watch is amazing? We will have to agree with you, but the the company thinks they can do better. Or at least that is what the latest rumors suggest. So a count down has shown up at the Pebble website, signaling for something to be revealed on Tuesday, February 24th at 7 AM Pacific.
What could it be? We have no idea, but 9to5’s sources swear it’s all about a new Pebble smart watch. This device would have a thinner profile and a colored e-paper display. It’s said it will also sport a microphone, but despite its improvements, it will continue to have the amazing battery life we have come to expect from Pebble.
It will also come with a new OS, built from the ground up by the same team behind WebOS. It will be very different, so let’s see what Pebble has for us come Tuesday morning!
Opinion: I use my Pebble on the daily and haven’t gotten tired of it one bit. Is it really time for an upgrade already? We will see what the Pebble 2 has to offer!

Coke uses emojis for latest ad campaign

Coke uses emojis for latest ad campaign

If there is something Coke is good at, it’s their advertising. They are masters at promoting their world-famous drink, and they are adapting to the digital age like no other. Just take a look at their latest ad campaign – they are using emojis (emoticons, or whatever you prefer calling them).
The idea is simple, they use a series of URLs, which include emoticons and post those URL addresses in their ads. When people access them, they are taken to the Puerto Rican Coca Cola website. And yes, this seems to be a Puerto Rico-only campaign.
Opinion: Pretty clever, right? I mean, seeing a URL like this makes you want to access the site. It sparks curiosity.

Beam – an Android-powered projector that is unlike any other

Beam – an Android-powered projector that is unlike any other

We have seen many good smart projectors lately. My favorite happens to be the ZTE SPRO 2, but nothing is quite like what we are taking a look at today. Let us introduce you to the Beam. We know that’s not a very creative name, but don’t let that fool you. The device is actually quite innovative.
It’s not the most powerful projector, only being capable of 100 lumens and an 854x480p resolution, but it has something very special. This thing can be screwed into any light socket (or you can just use the included light cable). It’s powered by Android and comes with a 1.3 GHz dual-core processor, 8 GB of internal storage (more if the funding crosses certain milestones), a couple 2-Watt speakers, WiFi and Bluetooth.
This projector is controlled with your Android or iOS devices, so you don’t even need to be close to it to use it. This also happens to be a smart device of sorts. It can take advantage of IFTTT’s services to program certain actions. Maybe you want it to start projecting your updates at a certain time, or wake you up with music in the morning.
The device is not cheap. It’s on Kickstarter and all early bird specials are gone, which means you have to spend at least $399 to get one. Estimated delivery is set for October and the campaign has far surpassed its goal… with 30 more days to go.
Opinion: Boy, does this thing look cool! I love that it actuallty has an LED light built in, so you can even use it as a regular light if you want. It’s a bit pricey, but it’s unique and seems very useful.
