John Legere says T-Mobile has surpassed Sprint

John Legere has done miracles for T-Mobile. The carrier’s strategy has earned them millions of new subscribers, and the numbers keep growing. But there is one milestone we have all been waiting T-Mobile to cross – when will the carrier move up the ladder and beat Sprint for the #3 spot in the USA?
John Legere predicted this would happen by the end of 2014, but no announcement was made, which made us believe said goal was not met. Either way, we knew the news would hit the web at some point, with the way things are going for T-Mobile.
John Legere just held an earnings call in which he states T-Mobile has finally taken the #3 spot in the USA. The numbers are tricky, but he is very sure about himself.
“Going into 2013, Sprint had 55 million customers. Going into ’14, they had 55 million customers. Going into this year, they have 55 million customers. In that period, they lost 3.3 million postpaid customers as well. T-Mobile had 33 million customers. We merged with MetroPCS and went to 42 million customers, and we’ve since added 13 million customers to get up to, guess what, 55 million customers.” -John Legere, T-Mobile CEO
Opinion: So they both have 55 million customers. This would mean that they are tied, right? John says Sprint is using dirty tricks to keep its numbers high, though, as they keep counting inactive MVNO accounts. Regardless, we are sure to keep seeing T-Mobile grow. T-Mobile success will likely be much more noticeable in the next quarters.
